MediVac pipeline leak detection personnel
recently completed a two month project on the Palm Island located in
the Persian Gulf just off the coast of Dubai in the United Arab
Emirates. The manmade Palm Jumeirah consists of a trunk, seventeen
fronds and a crescent that forms an eleven kilometer breakwater around
the island. The Island will add 78 kilometers to the the Dubai
coastline.

Vacuum Sewer, Palm Jumeirah

MediVac
Technologies was contracted to perform helium leak detection
on the vacuum sewer system buried approximately four meters under
the surface of the palm trunk. This included eight main vacuum lines
and multiple laterals connecting the fronds and structures along the
trunk to the mains. MediVac was
successful in locating nearly two hundred leakage points. Due to the
narrow corridor available for the laying of utilities most of the
leaks were found to have been caused by damage from subsequent
excavations.
